About The Business

Could you tell us a bit about your showroom and where you're based?

We are an independent bathroom and kitchen design studio located in the centre of Twyford, Berkshire which has been owned and managed by Lisa since the showroom opened in 2004. The company originally traded as Tile & Bathroom Place. In September 2009 we installed a new bathroom for Mr Young in Earley who was so pleased with the process and the final result he asked us if we would fit a new kitchen for him.

What inspired you to start?

We had heard this request many times from our customers. Having experienced our professional and reliable service from design through to installation, our customers knew they could rely on us to deliver an exceptional bathroom with outstanding customer service.

Understandably, they wanted the comfort of using the same team to deliver a kitchen as well. We already had the fitting expertise within our installation team, and our bathroom designers were trained in the fine art of kitchen design too. So, it was a natural and organic development for us into kitchens. Since then, we have delivered some fantastic projects and delighted many customers with their new kitchens.

In 2018 we changed our name to Kitchen & Bathroom Place, to reflect the growing importance of kitchens to our project portfolio. Lisa's original ethos still underpins what we do:

Deliver exceptional installations through outstanding customer service to all our customers in an enjoyable, stimulating and rewarding way.

Age Concern

Could you tell us about a recent project you're especially proud of?

Every kitchen project is special; however, we are particularly proud of a big kitchen design and install we carried out in 2025 for Age Concern, Twyford & District. This is a charity Day Centre in our village, who provide essential care and support services to the elderly in the community. Age Concern were fundraising for a new kitchen as the current one was over 30 years old and failing. Lisa heard about this and contacted them to see if she could help.

Working closely with the Centre Manager Alan and his kitchen staff, Lisa designed a practical and robust Omega kitchen that would enable them to cook delicious dinners for their members. However, they didn't have enough funds for the whole project, so Lisa sprang into action and did her own version of 'DIY-SOS' - asking suppliers for reduced terms and appealing to local tradesmen to volunteer to do the installation. Lisa managed the project with her usual meticulous detail, with minimal disruption to the Day Centre. The result was fabulous and our local mayor visited to see the finished kitchen.

What do you enjoy most about helping customers design their kitchens?

I love to listen to their ideas and always want to know what they love as well as what they hate about their current kitchen. I like to know their habits, which family members like to cook, how often they entertain etc. - anything that helps me build a picture of how the new kitchen will be used. I also visit the home to take measurements, to understand their personal style, as well as establishing any constraints for the new design. I love to work with unusual requests - a bespoke fridge to home the family tortoise over the winter was one of my favourites!

Partnership with Omega

How long have you been working with Omega?

I first contacted Omega in 2023 when our current supplier was becoming unreliable. I wanted to find a new kitchen supplier that fulfilled our criteria of being primarily good quality, and secondly good value. As soon as I visited Omega, I knew that their extensive range of kitchens would be perfect for the high standards, eclectic tastes, and varied budgets of my customers.

What do you value most about your partnership with Omega?

Omega is excellent at customer service, processing orders correctly first time and then delivering them on time and usually without any defects or missing components. This is so important to me as it ensures our installations can run smoothly for our customers.

Do you have a favourite Omega range, door style, or finish?

I love the Mackintosh Super Matt range for a contemporary kitchen as this looks so sleek and offers a great range of colours. The Sterling Painted is an excellent option for a more classic look. We have both on display and they are very popular with our customers.

How does Omega support your business and your customers?

They offer factory tours, which I always recommend to my customers, in order to see the fantastic range of units and styles that they offer. I get great support from the Customer Service Team with any order queries, as well as excellent marketing materials and support from our Sales Manager.

Looking Ahead

What are you most looking forward to in the year ahead for your business?

I am working with local businesses on several village-wide marketing campaigns to increase footfall into our village. One of these ideas is to host the 'Twyford Ideal Home Show' - bringing together key service providers (architect, builder, interior designer, garden designer, decorator, and kitchen and bathroom design) to set up a surgery for local residents to come and ask questions about any future renovation projects they might have. I love working with other 'Home Specialists' to ensure the customer gets a full end-to-end experience.

Any exciting projects or plans you'd like to share with our followers?

I am working with some great clients currently, and each one is exciting in its own way. Whether a small gallery kitchen, or an open-plan kitchen/diner, every job is important and must be planned meticulously to ensure it gives the customer exactly what they need for them and their family.

Is there anything else you'd like our audience to know about your showroom or your team?

Whilst we often liaise solely with the homeowner in designing their new kitchen, we also work closely with the clients' architects and builders when it is a larger project. If there are construction and planning considerations, the customer gets the best results when we collaborate with the architect and builder at the early stages of the project. We are a friendly and professional team, and as an independent business we can be very flexible in the way we work and the services we can offer the customer. Come and see us for a chat!
