Sustainability
As a company, we continue to strive for best practice, to drive social economic and environmental change by continuing to improve our business operations. It is our mission to minimise the ecological and environmental impact of our business activities.
Our Journey
As a responsible and environmentally-conscious company, we believe that it is our duty not only to provide high-quality kitchens to our customers, but also to do so in a sustainable and eco-friendly manner. Therefore, we are constantly collaborating with our partners to discover innovative ways to reduce our carbon footprint and achieve net zero emissions in the manufacturing of our kitchens. This involves investing in renewable energy sources, optimising our production processes, and minimising waste throughout the supply chain.
UN Sustainability goals
FISP is an independently certified sustainability programme tailored to the needs of the Furniture Industry supply chain. FISP promotes best practices to drive social, economic, and environmental change through the continual improvement of members’ business operations.
Our selected UN Sustainable Development Goals are those we believe will help us stay focused on our journey and develop the Omega Way.
End poverty in all it's ways everywhere
Omega values all its workforce and recognises the impact we have on our employees, their wider families and community. Omega is a proud supporter of the Living Wage initiative and has acted on the current cost-of-living crisis alongside other initiatives. The Omega Way ensures that continued focus is given to the economic environment and the impact this has on all its employees.
Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being
The health and well-being of our staff is a vital element of our business and beliefs. We want to ensure that our workplace is a safe environment and that vital health measures are in place for all staff. We offer several initiatives across the business from personal health screenings and mental health support to Unum help@hand app for all staff.
Gender equality
Within the kitchen manufacturing sector, we recognise the imbalance of men to women and accept this as a challenge to the overall business. Omega are an equal opportunities employer with salaries based on ability to undertake the role, not on gender. We are excited to continue to change the perception of kitchen manufacturing through the employment of more women choosing this as a career path.
Affordable clean energy
We have started the journey in support of Goal 7 with the inclusion of solar panels on our new site, the sourcing of the most efficient vehicles, alongside our 0% policy towards landfill waste, where everything is used as a renewable energy source. Omega has recently changed its policy towards fleet car,s with all future vehicles having to be either hybrid or electric.
Consumption and production
The Omega Way is to manufacture long-lasting quality kitchens using the best materials and components available. Omega offers longevity of product, ensuring the end consumer has long-term satisfaction and use. Through our production processes, we continue to strive for the most efficient ways of working and finding ongoing effective manufacturing solutions.
Life on land
There is no getting away from the materials we use in the production of our kitchens, as it is a complex process that involves various materials. However, Omega works with accredited partners to ensure that sustainability is at the heart of our products. Our efforts to promote sustainability in our products demonstrate our commitment to being a responsible and socially conscious company.
Our planet
Our roadmap for sustainability identifies the measures we are implementing to safeguard our planet effectively. Omega is creating a greener workplace.
Reusable bottles
To discourage single-use plastic bottles, all employees are supplied with insulated water bottles to use across our filtered water systems that can be found throughout the offices and manufacturing site.
Electric vehicles
All company vehicles will be moved to hybrid or fully electric by January 2024. This has been supported by the establishment of on-site electric vehicle charging bays for staff and visitor use.
Omega continues to invest in a greener and more fuelefficient ECO6 lorry fleet using the latest fuel technology to convert dangerous emissions into harmless ones whilst delivering across the UK.
Reducing waste
In 2019 in a quest to reduce day-to-day waste by removing desk bins, forcing us to all think about our personal and work-created waste. Utilising recycling points throughout the business to aid in the separation recycling process.
35% Recycled Materials
One of the principal areas of any Kitchen is the actual carcasses so Omega needs to reduce the impact of the materials. Currently, our carcasses are made up of more than 35% recycled material using wooden by-products from other industries.
All the cabinet feet used across our kitchens are made using 100% recycled material.
The Installation of Ecogate system on all of our extraction now works on variable speed drives which regulates equipment use and reduces fan speed accordingly. This system reduces power consumption considerably and reduces wear and tear of components and equipment.
100% Recycled
Alongside using key components made from recycled materials within our kitchens we have introduced four 100% recycled doors. The doors, created through the collection of waste wood and recycled and transformed into modern functional products help to close to loop on waste.
All our door as sustainably sourced and nothing goes into landfill any waste generated through our kitchens that cannot be recycled is collected and incinerated to create energy.
Water-Based Paint
Through our painted kitchen collection, we continue to monitor the various paint technologies available to us. Omega embarked on a water-based paint journey with a strategic partner and continues to work with solvent and water-based suppliers in the pursuit of reduced V.O.Cs and an end-to-end CO2 footprint.
