About Us

Omega has always stood for innovation, quality, and trust – but our story is also one of evolution.

Founded by Sir Bob Murray as a PLC venture, Omega quickly established itself as a leading force in UK kitchen manufacturing. Over the years, the business has grown, adapted, and invested heavily in state-of-the-art facilities to stay at the forefront of design and production.

What makes us different today is how the Murray family has shaped that foundation. Omega is a proud family-run branded kitchen manufacturing business, guided by the same sense of responsibility and long-term care you’d expect when a company becomes part of a family legacy. It’s this combination of scale, personal commitment, and honest partnerships in both retail and contracts that sets us apart.

Every kitchen we make reflects that balance – the precision of advanced manufacturing, with the warmth and integrity of a family business. Built to last, designed to inspire, and created to be lived in.

Our History

Omega has always been about more than kitchens – it’s about combining British design, innovation, and care to create spaces where life happens.

Foundations

Omega was founded by Sir Bob Murray, Francis Galvin and Newton Winfield as a PLC venture. From the outset, the vision was clear: to create exceptional British kitchens, designed and built to the highest standards. By 1996, the first phase of our purpose-built manufacturing site was opened by HRH Princess Margaret.

Growth through Design

The launch of Sheraton Kitchens in 1996 set the tone for our future – elegant, functional, and crafted with care. As demand grew, new brands such as Chippendale were introduced, broadening our reach and solidifying Omega’s place as one of the UK’s fastest-growing manufacturers.

Expansion & Evolution

Listed on the London Stock Exchange in 2004, Omega expanded rapidly with new facilities and product lines. In 2009, a management buyout brought the business back into private ownership, paving the way for greater independence and agility.

Investment in the Future

A £10m+ investment in state-of-the-art machinery and a £7.5m expansion created one of the most advanced manufacturing facilities in Europe. At the same time, the Omega Academy was launched – a centre dedicated to developing skills and sharing expertise with customers and colleagues alike.

A Family Legacy

Now under family ownership, Omega continues to blend scale with a personal, long-term commitment. From sustainability initiatives to our partnership with Dame Prue Leith as brand ambassador, through to the launch of our Novus handleless kitchens, we remain focused on innovation, service offering, and creating kitchens that stand the test of time. 2025 saw the launch of the all new In Frame range, bringing together all of Omega's design and manufacturing expertise to give the market something truly special.

Our journey from PLC roots to a family-run business has given us both strength and purpose. It’s a history we’re proud of – and one we’re building on every day.
